The reason she felt it was important to gain the attention of politicians and convince them to take action to stop the global warming. Swedish media caught Thunbergs striking and word of her strike spread. Following the strike, students all around joined Thunberg's #FridaysforFuture movements. Students opted to skip Friday school to demonstrate against climate change. Climate campaigners around the globe met in the year 2019, to lead their efforts to coordinate the Global Strike for Climate. The event was hugely successful, more than 1.6million individuals from 150 countries took part.
